The Benefits of Time Management Tools for a Manager (3)

As a manager, it is important to ensure that you have the quality of patience. When you are in a leadership role, you will find that you are often bogged down under a lot of pressure to get things done. Furthermore, you probably have a lot of tasks that need to be completed. However, patience is the key. You are one person and are only able to do so much in any given day. While it is important to constantly challenge yourself and to try to reach higher level of productivity on a daily basis, you should set realistic goals daily.

The next time management tool that has proven to be quite effective for many managers is the ability to recognize a distraction and deal with it. There are many different things that take up our time on a daily basis. This includes emails, instant messaging programs, and other computer distractions. If you find that these items are interfering with the time that you have to handle your responsibilities, you should either eliminate them or monitor these areas closely.

For example, if you are constantly interrupted by people who want to chat on instant messenger programs, you should turn the program off until you have time to handle the distraction. If you are constantly checking your email, you should designate a time to check email throughout the day. When checking your email, you should use that timer that we discussed early in the article and only set it for a small amount of time. When that time is up, quit checking email and get back to your other priorities.
